I had a conversation the other night with my friend Jeremy Handysides who’s working with World Orphans. He had great things to say about them particularly in their approach which involves working within the local cultures where they’re helping, partnering with the local people and churches. Jeremy referred to them as the “most culturally sensitive” organization he’s worked with. I’m sponsoring Jeremy on a monthly basis now, but he said even if he doesn’t ever make enough to work with World Orphans full time he’s going to keep doing it no matter what. Which is why you should support him too!

At the Sezio events this past weekend I saw the above written in the mens bathroom. I mentioned it and there was a discussion of funny bathroom graffiti. People recalled some good ones. Ask Joel P West about a funny one on his phone. I personally remember a funny one from UCSD Visual Art Facility mens bathroom. Right next to a urinal there was part of the wall exposed and there were some wires coming out. Someone had written above the wires:
“Pee here. The way to end it all.”
But probably the most amazing one I heard was from Jackson who said one time he saw this line written on a stall in a bathroom:
“Toy Story 2 was ok”
I won’t go into what makes that amazing, but I did like Joel’s suggested variation (and what he considered to be saying the same thing): “Toy Story 2 exists.”
Friends, colleagues, countrymen, penguins, Beck, a momentous hour is upon us. Let us take a moment to give thanks for all that we have and to reflect on the trials we have endured to see this day. Consider how we would ever survive Comic-Con without doing the Conan nerd voice every five minutes. I hope that you all pass this great day with your loved ones and that you call up that long lost friend and tell them you love them.
